Family Landscapes

This work is a series of portraits of my immediate family members (and myself) through landscape. I portray the view, rather than a conventional head and shoulders portrait. These are the out-door spaces lived within and experienced daily. I attempt at an intimacy of sharing their view through these photos. The photographs presented on a mantel-like shelf.

My Mother’s family first settled in the area in 1843. This is the matrilineal settler landscape. The Lindsay area is characterized by farmland, rolling hills, lakes and waterways. The Kawartha Lakes, known for recreation and cottages, is nearby. When my parents retired they returned to the area and shared a house with my brother and his family.
